Section Header: For Schools

R-ISE’s goal is to assist international and private school communities to design, develop, and sustain effective and efficient special needs programs. R-ISE supports school communities through:

  • Coaching Sessions
  • Consultation
  • Leadership Seminars
  • Mentorship
  • Needs Assessments
  • Professional Development

R-ISE works with international and private school communities in the same geographical area to create partnerships and on-going collaboratives.

R-ISE offers strategic planning opportunities to make the dream a reality. Strategic planning typically includes:

  • A virtual and/or in-person visit to your school site
  • Conversations with board members, school administrators, teachers, students, and parents
  • Development of an action plan
  • In-depth study of your school community
  • The completion of a needs assessment

R-ISE understands the financial and service limitations in international and private educational settings. R-ISE strives to foster school climates where:

  • A culture of compassion, understanding, and acceptance exists
  • All children can be served
  • Children are not just included, they belong
  • Families are supported
  • Teachers and parents work as a team

R-ISE realizes community services and support are crucial when serving children in international and private schools. Community members often have the services and talents needed to provide additional support to children with disabilities. R-ISE assists school teams in finding pathways to engage community services and support for their students. Services may include:

  • Counseling
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Parent Support Groups
  • Physical Therapy
  • Post-Secondary Transition Opportunities
  • Public School Support
  • Speech & Language Therapy

R-ISE understands special education and disability are viewed differently by diverse cultural groups and by different countries. Special education is a culture in and of itself. Coupled with the various ethnic groups enrolled in a school, perceptions of special education services and a disability diagnosis varies. R-ISE helps school personnel understand:

  • How special education law can create cultural conflict with specific minority groups, e.g. Asian, Hispanic, Native American
  • How to effectively develop community in meeting the needs of children with disabilities
  • How to engage with minority groups within your communities
  • The perception of disability among different cultural groups
Section Header: For Parents

To equip parents to be effective team members, R-ISE provides individual consultations with parents. Parents of children with disabilities often feel unprepared for the educational journey that lies ahead. I help parents to be decisive participants when planning the educational goals for their child. Yes, R-ISE supports parents by making sure they understand their parental rights and by guiding them through appropriate and realistic goal planning for their child. Please note, R-ISE does not provide advocacy services.

R-ISE supports parent groups by providing presentations in your community on topics relevant to families of children with special needs. Once your group has determined the need for an event, R-ISE will provide you with a media kit and work with you to customize the presentation. Sample topics include special education law, accommodations, home to school communication, fundraising for program development, and transition ideas for post-secondary opportunities. Costs of parent presentations vary based on length of the program and travel expenses. Workshops can be tailored to your parent group. Ideas for workshops are:

  • Assistive Technology
  • Child Find Evaluation & Timelines
  • How to be an effective and valued team member
  • Parent Workshops
  • Procedural Safeguards
  • SMART Goals
  • Understanding the Educational Psychologist Report
  • What makes a Good IEP
